Access hatches on homes are often not properly secured. Sometimes, they are just left wide open like this one, but sometimes they may have a rain cover loosely laid over the top.
To be properly secured, an access hatch should be framed into the foundation wall the same way your front door is framed into your siding. With solid 2x framing against stops with handle and latches as shown here.
Roof vents are often constructed of plastic, and even when a factory metal one is used, the screening is usually a light duty aluminum insect screen. Such light materials are easily damaged by birds and rodents and allow access into the insulated spaces between roof and ceiling.
Our metal roof vents are extra reinforced with a steel screen beneath to prevent such ripping and tearing. On beach properties, a stainless steel mesh will be used to protect against rust.
Plumbing roof vents are often built with a plastic vinyl or rubber boot. Such boots are easily chewed through by rodents. Some places may use steel one size fits all boots which have a very large unprotected gap of up to 3” on smaller pipes.
Our plumbing boots are steel sheets properly fitted specifically for the proper pipe size with a ¼” rubber gasket for leak prevention.
Exhaust vents are often made with just flaps and no screening at all. Our most common bird infestation is Starlings lifting those flaps and building a nest inside.
We improve your exhaust vents by installing a fitted and screened cover to keep all vertebrate pests out.
Eave vents are commonly made with a light duty aluminum or nylon insect screen which is easily torn out by birds rodents and even bats.
Our upgrade reinforces these vents with steel wire mesh to prevent ripping and tearing.
Gaps around truss blocks often give access to small animals like mice and bats, and rats and squirrels with often make those gaps bigger.
We seal those gaps with caulking and sheet metal to keep animals out.
Gaps in the foundation wall from utility penetrations or tunnels under the wall are another common access point. Especially for Rats.
We seal gaps and eliminate tunneling with concrete. Whether packing in the holes or pouring an entire floor, you can be sure that our work is guaranteed animal proof.
Foundation vents are often made of plastic with only little tabs of melted plastic holding in the screen. Another style involves gluing the screen to a concrete block, and still another involves staples in wood. All those styles are prone to failure and are the most common cause of foundation dwelling animal infestations including raccoons otters opossums rats and skunks.
Our reinforcement varies depending on style, but all of them involve upgrading to corrosion resistant heavier duty steel welded wire anchored into the concrete foundation with screws to guarantee animal proofing.
Ridge vents are often left with gaps on the ends or between the segments.
Sealing these gaps is crucial for adequate bat proofing.
